A successful energy saving project using heat pump technology was implemented by the local engineering team in Guangzhou, China. The heat pump moves heat from a solar energy catch up to a higher temperature level for social water supply. In addition to the positive environmental impact, the project had an IRR of 30%.
Engineering Services was asked to extract the general findings of the project and investigate global applications. Administration buildings all over the world are seen as an application potential in which this could be used to heat up fresh water or building comfort.
Heat pump technology has become more attractive in recent years. Engineering Services has sorted out two additional global players – GEA Air Treatment and Johnson Controls. Both companies were asked to send a budget offer for a heat pump system replacing a conventional boiler in one of Kraft’s coffee plants; if this is successful, both companies have offered to investigate this technology in other areas.

The principle behind geothermal heat pumps is that in winters, the pumps move the heat from the earth into your house and in summers, the devices pull heat from your home and discharge it into the ground.
